Unity - A Primer
Hello all,
So, I've been home for two days with a messed up back. What better way to spend my time unwillingly laid out on the couch (glamorous, I know) than pulling together all the different stubs and bits and pieces I've produced over the years in creating the Unity-Universe?
Anyone who writes extensively in one setting will tell you that ground rules are important - they establish the logic of the world(s) your stories exist in. As a reader myself, I appreciate any author who takes the time to ensure consistency in their world build. Without that foundation, I find the background starts to crack and smear, particularly over time as the author's choices and preferences change. Besides, I see the the world itself as a character - and having its profile worked out is a great help when setting up cataclysmic events.
Now, I can understand that it's not all that interesting to read long diatribes on philosophy and sociology and economics when you're in the middle of an action oriented story. So, as a taster before this whole shebang comes online, I've prepared a primer for anyone who's interested in how all this space-talk works. My intent is to flesh out this resource over time, adding background components and character bios as I produce more stories and novels set in Unity.
As for what everyone's waiting for - the first look at my actual book - that's coming very soon. I'll be posting chapters in short order. In the meantime, check out the What is Unity? link up top or the individual pages to the side to get a sense of where this is all going.
And as always, thanks for reading.
