Done...for the third time
I think everyone who writes has come to a point where they feel like they've finished their story. They've written what needs to be written, edited it, cut it down and rebuilt it so many times there's nowhere else to go. I do this all the time - I write slowly as a matter of habit, although it is one I'm trying to break. I edit as I go, which changes the tone and tenor of my work before it's even finished. I've been getting better at not doing that, of focusing on getting to the end before I take my critical eye to my pages, but no one's perfect.
Anyway, I hit the above noted milestone this past weekend. I've officially rewritten Unity: Project Lancet (might change the title soon) 3 times. Three times! Start to finish.
So, yes, it's an important moment for me. Because this represents the best work I've ever completed. Absolutely. Without a doubt. The best work.
But for all of that, I still feel like I could make it better, that maybe it needs just a little more polish. And it does, I'm no bastion of perfection. This is always going to be a work in progress. What I've done is reached the point where my returns have diminished enough that I need to let someone else take over the editing.
And that's always a challenge - finding people to read and do a markup for free. But I've got a few so far, and I'll keep you all posted as things develop. I may need to pay someone eventually - that could be an interesting experience. Anyhow, that's all for now. Thanks for reading!
